Razoks are parasitic creatures native to Tyrn.  Colonies of possibly hundreds of individuals live in large, complex underground tunnels capable of spanning over a mile of ground.  Each hive is led by a single queen razok, a significantly larger female who produces the majority of the colony's young and very rarely leaves the hive, preferring to wander the endless tunnels to protect her colony from possible intruders.  Males are typically smaller and more submissive than the females, who spend most of their time gathering food to bring back to the colony.

Razok eggs are distinguished by their pointed "horns," believed to be a simple way of warding off potential predators until the egg is ready to hatch.  From the moment they do hatch, larvae are virtually defenseless save for their teeth, which they use primarily to latch onto other animals and drain their blood.  To protect them from injury, however, older razoks may bring fresh carcasses for them to drain without the risk of being attacked.  Larvae are typically raised by the males within the hive until their legs begin to grow in, at which point they start to become more adventurous, some of which to the point of leaving the hive to explore.  Razoks are typically sexually mature by the age of three years, and have been known to live upwards of twenty years.  Queens, however, tend to live much longer, with some believed to have been as old as sixty years before supposedly dying of illness.
